Volunteer

Are you interested in Volunteering?

  • Do you have time to help?
  • Do you have a friendly manner?
  • Do you have a sympathetic approach to the elderly and people with disabilities?

If so why not join our growing band of volunteers and make a real difference to people who are experiencing difficulties getting out and about. Our schemes are aimed at increasing the independence and mobility of older people and people with disabilities.

Remember as a community transport charity your help will be greatly appreciated by those with mobility needs in the South West Devon area. Go on make a difference!

Our Volunteering opportunities

We have a wide range of volunteering opportunities available from Car driving to website editing.

As a Driver in our Volunteer Car Scheme

Our Volunteer Car Service is dependent entirely on volunteers. Our small team use their own cars to collect people from their homes and take them to medical appointments, shopping, or whatever service is needed.

For many of the users of this service, it is the only way they can reach hospitals, doctors, dentists and other essential everyday services.

If you enjoy driving, have your own car and would like to spend some time meeting new people and travelling the area, why not join us? All travelling expenses are paid at 45p per mile from your home to the client and returning home from the client and 50p/mile while the client is with you in the car to and from their destination. You only take on only the journeys you want to do and only on days and times you volunteer for.  More information about our car schemes.

Minibus Driver for Community Group Hire

We hire out our minibuses (one 14 seater and one 8 seater) to local community groups. The driver would need to hold a D1 driving licence category for the 14 seat vehicle. A standard licence driving  is sufficient for the 8 seat bus. Previous experience or MIDAS training would also be required for the driver to hire our vehicles.

In the Office

We need volunteers to help in our office which is open between 9-00 and 12-30 Monday to Friday. Volunteering in the office can be flexible, please call Lauren or Dawn and we can arrange to have an informal have a chat in the Watermark. It is an ideal opportunity if you enjoy talking to people and can be very fulfilling.

If you are able to work from home perhaps you could assist by keeping our website and Facebook pages up to date.

Fundraising

We always need help with fundraising, so if you would like to run an event or help at our events then please contact the office on 01752 690444.

Volunteering information

We are looking for people who are interested in joining our association by becoming a trustee. This would involve attending 4 meetings a year, but mainly we are after people who want to help us make a difference.
