We started fundraising for our new 8 seat wheelchair accessible mini bus in September 2019, we have been successful and managed to raise £33,605 and are pleased to announce that we have now been able to purchase the new bus.
Who knew when we started the fundraising that we would be having to adapt our services to help get food and shopping to people during the COVID 19 lockdown. We hope you have seen our new bus making its way around Ivybridge, Cornwood and Sparkwell delivering hot food and click and collect food deliveries from Tescos and Countrymans choice. We also received a grant from the Princes Countryside Trust and Devon County Council who are helping to provide this service.
Our funding has come from various charitable trusts and we would like to thank them for their help with this much needed project; Garfield Weston Foundation, Sir John and Lady Heathcoat Amory Trust, Elise Pilkington Trust, David Gibbons Trust, Pebbles (Rank Organisation), Norman Family Charitable Trust & The Greenhall Foundation
There has also been a lot of local support with funds being raised by Ivybridge Short Mat Bowls club who raised £800 and the quiz night held at the Sportsmans which raised £404. Collectively the District and County Councilor’s gave £5850.
We would like to say a BIG thank you to everyone for helping to raise these funds and making it possible to purchase the new vehicle. Hopefully we will be able to welcome you aboard soon, when we get back to a ‘new normal’.
